Cost and Terms
Cost of insurance: Varies between 0.5% to 1% of the declared value of the order being shipped.
You can insure your products for loss of value yourself instead of buying insurance while shipping the package to your customers.
While it is optional to pay for insurance to cover any loss of value however without insurance, our conditional liability for loss of value of your product is limited from the time we package your product to the time we hand it over to another service provider.
Our shipping insurance covers loss, damage, or theft of packages sent with us. Here is a summary of our terms while details can be found here.
Coverage
Insurance covers a partial value of the packages sent with us up to a maximum of $500.
However, we will not cover packages
booked for a wrong address
in categories on our restricted or reserved list.
with minor or cosmetic damage that does not impact usability of the shipped product.
that are already being processed by other carrier insurance or claims that are being processed by another insurance provider.
Claim filing
Claims can be submitted by emailing our support team with necessary evidence. Filing deadlines are:
Loss: 60 - 90 days after shipping, if there is no delivery scan.
Damage: Within 5 days after carrier delivery, if the package was delivered but broken.
Theft: Within 5 days after carrier claims the package was delivered.
Evidence
No claim will be offered for packages that required signature for delivery or could not be delivered beyond control of the carrier.
Depending on the type of claim, admissible evidence may include invoices, police reports, or written documentation from an authority.
Loss: Report of loss from carrier.
Damage:
To process the claim we need clear pictures of the outer box, any labels on the box, package itself and the damage.
At our discretion we might offer to repair the product instead.
Theft:
To process the claim we need a police report with details about theft of the package along with videos from any security cameras.
Reimbursement and credits
Reimbursement, when determined, is deposited into your Cloudship account in the form of credit equal to the claim amount within 15 days of claim settlement.
Such credit can be used against future shipments.
Waiver
When submitting a claim to us, you waive the right to file a claim with any other insurance provider for the same shipment.
